The workshop will present the developmental foundations for preprinting and printing skills. These include pencil grasp, sitting position, hand dominance, and the formation of lines and shapes. We will also be presenting the program “Printing Like a Pro” which was developed by the OT’s at SunnyHill and UBC. It is simple, evidence based and importantly, FREE to download. There is a classroom based program as well as a home program. It does not require any particular equipment and fits well within the curriculum.

The Occupational Therapy Department at Learning Support Services provides consultative services to schools within the Langley School District. As part of our commitment to increase capacity for teachers and education assistants, we are pleased to be able to offer this workshop on enhancing fine motor skills, particularly printing skills, in kindergarten students.
